Driscoll Foods Fulfills Sustainability Goals with a 3.5 Megawatt Rooftop Solar Project

Driscoll Foods, one of the largest independent food service distributors in the tri-state area for nearly fifty years, has completed construction of a 3.5-megawatt DC rooftop solar photovoltaic system at its headquarters located in Wayne, New Jersey.

Driscoll Foods partnered with Solar Landscape, a leading New Jersey developer, installer, owner, and operator of commercial solar on the project. This is the state’s 3rd largest direct purchase of a rooftop solar array.

The solar project is comprised of 9,306 solar panels capable of producing more than 4.5 million kilowatt hours annually; enough power to provide electricity to around 550 homes for a year. The system will offset more than 3,000 metric tons of The polluting CO² equivalent emissions annually – the same as removing nearly 700 cars from the road for a year. Solar Landscape developed, designed and constructed the solar array on the company’s state of the art facility opened in 2017. With 64 receiving doors and a refrigerated receiving dock, the warehouse provides more than 500,000 square feet of rooftop space to house the solar array.
